Ship Identification System

Case Study

The ISIS is a tech tree system to identify ships in EVE. It presents all ships in the game in a visual and interactive way and illustrates clearly the skill requirement progression path for unlocking ships while giving players the high level information they need to decide which faction, ship group and ship to progress towards. The tree is dynamic and shows which ship groups and ships you are training for and will give you a clear indication when new ships have been unlocked or your ability to use them effectively has changed.

The team felt strongly about adding the ISIS feature into the game and worked hard to convince stakeholders of it’s benefits. My role was to direct the design of the feature and oversee all UX research and UI development for it along with doing all visual and interaction designs for it and produce all final UI assets.

Primary Goals

  • Improve the experience of visualizing progression in EVE
  • Provide a centralized location to acquire a new ship
  • Provide players with centralized high level information about races and ships
